Call for Participation: SERAI SC2021

We are inviting people who are interested in presenting ideas at the SERAI Summer Conference to submit abstracts, exhibits, or video contributions.

We are looking for

Papers: on any of the conference themes, around skills and education on robotics, AI and IoT

Subjects we might discuss include but are not limited to:

  • What skills will we need in 2030?
  • What is the future of work and society?
  • What is the Fourth Industrial Revolution and why do educators need to know more about it?
  • What are the key skills that industry will require over the next decade?
  • How to use robotics, AI and IoT in teaching
  • How to prepare students for higher or further computer science studies
  • How to prepare people for the workplace of 2030
  • How to integrate robotics, AI and IoT into the school curriculum
  • Simulations in teaching technology

Video contributions: If you would like to let us know what you think should be discussed, please upload your thoughts in a short video that you can post here. Keep it to under two minutes and tell us what we should be talking about or what you would like to address yourself in a panel discussion or conference speech. If you are a teacher, why not get your students to tell us what they think?

Exhibitors: If you are an ed-tech company or organisation and you would like the opportunity to demonstrate your product, message, or idea to the conference attendees, we have exhibition space in the Atrium and lecture theatres.

How to submit

The Conference will feature oral presentations, posters, workshops, demonstrations and panels. Please register your interest if you would like to participate.

If you wish to present a paper at the Conference, or if you have a video contribution, or would like to participate in a panel or workshop, please email info@seras.org.uk with

  • a 500-word abstract for an oral presentation (max 20 minutes)of your paper attached
  • a 250-word abstract for a poster or demonstration
  • or a short video (of no more than 2 minutes), either by link or attachment

About the SERAI summer conference

The SERAI summer conference at the STEM conference centre in York.  The Conference will be held over three days, from the 14th to the 16th of July, with plenary and keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops and exhibitions to bring teachers, academics and industry together to explore how best to bring technology to the classroom and prepare students and adults alike for the workplace of 2030.

Organised by the SERAS network of over 15 UK universities, STEM Learning, the Open University and the Institute of Coding, the SERAI conference for Skills and Education for Robotics, AI and IoT will harness the latest academic research into technology skills provision and industrial expertise to help teachers integrate 4IR technologies into the curriculum and create learning pathways to careers in technology.
